NHO's nomination committee highlights Moss' extensive industry experience, solid management track record and strong political background in its recommendation that was made public Monday. The formal title of the role is President, a position equivalent to being chairman of the board.

Moss says it is an honor to be nominated to such an important position.

"Norway and Norwegian industry face exciting opportunities and significant challenges in the coming years. It is important to think long term and take strategic measures to ensure viability and growth over time. NHO plays an important role in this and it is an honor to be nominated for such an exciting and important position," says Moss.

NHO has 25,000 member companies organized in a number of national organizations, including the Federation of Norwegian Industries, where Executive Vice President for Primary Metal, Hilde Merete Aasheim, is chairman of the board.

It is NHO's General Meeting that decides who the next president will be, and the election will be held on June 13, 2017. Regardless of the outcome of this election, Moss will continue as head of the Energy business area and business development in Hydro.

Moss has extensive experience from business, politics and special-interest organizations, both as senior management and board chairman. In addition to his career in Hydro, stretching back to 1983, Moss was an advisor for the Conservative Party in the Storting (the Norwegian parliament) and for the party's leader from 1985 to 1989. He was also state secretary and chief of staff in the Prime Minister's office during the government of Jan P. Syse.

Moss was a member of NHO's board during the period 2009-2012 and has many years of board experience from Viken Energinett and Posten Norge.
