We deliver aluminium components that meet the highest demands for corrosion resistance and finish. Hydro’s range of aluminium car exterior components includes specialized coatings developed to avoid damage from aggressive alkali chemicals frequently used in high-pressure car cleaning.
Hydro delivers a full range of common automotive exterior trim items manufactured with aluminium, including window frames, light rings, antennas and door handles. Hydro can also provide decorative structural trim in aluminium, including emblems and radiator grills.
Hydro can take on the entire assignment of designing your vehicle’s exterior elements, from development and design to manufacturing in aluminium, surface treatment, assembly, packaging and distribution to car makers worldwide.
Anodizing aluminium extrusions for car exteriors creates a dirt-repellent surface and improves corrosion resistance. It provides a surface with electrically insulated coating and preserves the finish of the metal. Another benefit from an anodized finish is making cars look good: anodized aluminium exteriors provide your vehicle with a smooth surface that is pleasant to the touch.
Roof rails made of extruded aluminium are growing more popular. These are fastened on top of the vehicle and used to carry additional luggage and equipment. We use aluminium extrusions because they enable attractive, low weight and high-strength designs. Hydro also offers other aluminium components for vehicle roofs, such as sun roof frames.
Hydro CIRCAL is our range of products made with recycled, post-consumer scrap. Using recycled aluminium, we are able to drastically reduce energy use in the production phase, while still being able to offer high-quality aluminium products.
Operating the most advanced aluminium sorting technology in the industry allows Hydro CIRCAL to provide some of the highest recycled content aluminium in the market. Currently we offer Hydro CIRCAL 75R that contains a minimum of 75% post-consumer scrap. The higher the recycled content, the lower the carbon footprint.
Hydro is arranging a series of webinars relevant to automotive designers, engineers and others interested in learning how aluminium can and should be used in car design
