The Sustainability Report for Hydro's operations in Brazil provides information regarding 2019 and some of the main milestones through August 2020.
The publication is based on Hydro's annual report, but has specific sections on operations in Brazil, including the company's goals and performance in Energy and Climate Change; Resource management; Integrity, human rights and impact on the community; Organization and work environment; Innovation; Tax obligations, and actions against the Coronavirus, among others.
The report was prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards, widely used by companies worldwide and referenced by international standards and conventions. GRI is an independent international organization with a network-based structure and a collaborating center for the United Nations Environment Programme.
"In this report, we share relevant information about the impact we have and what we are doing to improve – on climate, on environment and on social responsibility – and we keep track of our efforts and our ability to improve further every day, year over year,” says John Thuestad, Hydro's executive vice president of Bauxite & Alumina.
This is the second Hydro sustainability report in Brazil. The first was published in September 2019, covering 2018 performance.
