There was no immediate impact on the electrolysis production following the accident. However, to repair the damages to the roof and the pipe, Hydro is forced to temporarily curtail production at parts of the production line and restart a number of cells when the structure is repaired.
There were no personnel injuries connected to the event.
The damages and production effect are being evaluated, but early estimates indicate that the production impact will be between 10 000 and 20 000 mt, while financial impact is estimated to be limited. It is not expected that customers will be affected.
Hydro’s primary aluminium plant in Neuss has an annual electrolysis production of around 160,000 mt aluminium.
