John Thuestad, head of Bauxite & Alumina, and other Hydro representatives met with the governor of the State of Pará, Helder Barbalho, and state secretaries.
The meeting reaffirmed Hydro's commitment to supporting social development through the TerPaz program and the TC, which are two social development agreements for the communities where Hydro operates. The company will invest BRL 60 million in the construction of Usinas da Paz.
TerPaz (State Territories of Peace Program) foresees the construction of three “Usinas da Paz,” social centers that will serve the local communities with the offer of services such as courses and workshops, in addition to cultural, leisure and sports activities.
After completing the survey and topography stages of the lands in Guamá, Terra Firme and Jurunas, Hydro started the TerPaz construction this week in the Guamá neighborhood.
“Hydro is committed to promoting sustainable regional development. TerPaz is an initiative in line with our Social Responsibility strategy, which is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We are committed to making society more inclusive and better for everyone,” said Thuestad.
The meeting was also attended by the Mayor of Barcarena, Renato Ogawa. The Barcarena urban mobility plan was also discussed.
